When the minimum lot does not fit
Include costs before treating a size as permitted.
Illustrative simulation · No historical performance claim01. Read the information available.
The hypothetical entry is 4,000 and stop is 3,999. The selected money budget is USD 10. This example broker specifies 100 ounces per lot, a minimum position of 0.10 lots and a 0.10-lot increment. These are teaching inputs, not universal XAU/USD specifications.
02. Apply the documented plan.
Allow USD 0.50 per ounce for additional adverse execution and USD 10 round-trip commission per lot. Estimated risk per lot is (1 + 0.50) × 100 + 10 = USD 160. The minimum 0.10 lot therefore implies USD 16, above the USD 10 budget. The maximum theoretical size is 0.0625 lots, below the permitted minimum.
No permitted position size
The simulated path later rises through the potential target. That does not make the oversized minimum lot compliant. No order was placed under the plan, so the target touch is an observed price event, not a realized gain.
What this case teaches
Constraints are assessed using information available before the outcome. A later favorable move cannot repair a budget violation. Revisit the specification or choose a different eligible situation through the documented process, rather than increasing the budget to justify this example.
